Hellbound

Liberty and justice for all

Think what they could have become

If someone had given them a chance

Or if someone had cared

or just reached out to them all

If recent incarceration rates remain unchanged, an estimated 1 out of every 20 persons (5.1%) will

serve time in a prison during their lifetime.

The U.S. prison population recently hit the 1.8 million mark-and that's just counting those in prison or jail. Throw in parolees and probationers and the combined number of people under some form of correctional supervision rises to nearly 6 million (an estimated one out of every 38) adults.

In the early 70s, there were about 200,000 people locked up in the U.S. Today’s prison population of 1.8 million represents a growth of over 800% in the past 30 years.

The United States has the highest documented incarceration rate, and total documented prison population in the world.
As of year-end 2007, a record 7.2 million people were behind bars, on probation or on parole. Of the total, 2.3 million were incarcerated.

Through the juvenile courts and the adult criminal justice system, the United States incarcerates more of its youth than any other country in the world, a reflection of the larger trends in incarceration practices in the United States.
On any given day more than 126,000 youth are serving time in jails and prisons based on rates from the year 2007.
Approximately 500,000—half a million—youth are brought to detention centers in a given year .

AND YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH.'
"The second is this, 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.' There is no other commandment greater than these."
-Mark 12:30-31

You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the sons of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself; I am the LORD.
-Leviticus 19:18
